La Terza Classe nasce a Napoli nell’ottobre del 2012; i luoghi della formazione e dell’affermazione del progetto, che nel tempo è diventato un vero e proprio collettivo di musicisti, sono state strade della città partenopea e di Parigi, dove la band ha attirato l’attenzione di una vasta fetta di pubblico iniziando a produrre musica e spettacolo suonando canzoni tradizionali, moderne ed inedite ispirate dal folk statunitense ed europeo.
La band ha autoprodotto nel 2014 un primo EP, “Ready to Sail” riscuotendo un discreto successo. Nel maggio 2016 esce il primo vero lavoro discografico, “Folkshake”, contenente 8 brani;
il progetto è stato realizzato insieme alla casa editrice “Ad est dell’equatore”, ed è distribuito tramite Amazon, Spotify e iTunes. Il disco ha venduto circa 2500 copie intutto il mondo grazie all’intensa attività live.

Nel corso del tempo, La Terza Classe ha avuto modo di ricercare e di approfondire le radici della musica che produce: per questo motivo il gruppo si è esibito in molti paesi d’Europa (Francia, Belgio, Olanda), in Italia in numerosi festival, in Germania al Neukölln Folk Festival, e soprattutto negli Stati Uniti dove, nel 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 e 2019 ha realizzato varie tournée; ha partecipato a molte trasmissioni radiofoniche americane (una di queste, Radio WDVX a Knoxville, all’interno dello storico palinsesto del “Blue Plate Special”) ed ha avuto l’onore di suonare per quattro anni consecutivi allo show televisivo “Music City Roots” al fianco di Jim Lauderdale, vincitore di 2 Grammy, a Nashville, nonché di esibirsi sul palco del celebre “Bluegrass Underground“.
Oltre all’attività prettamente musicale, La Terza Classe ha partecipato a vari
programmi televisivi prodotti da Sky Arte: “On the Road con Joe Bastianich” e “Fotografi”; oltre alla partecipazione all’edizione 2016 di “Italia’s Got Talent” raggiungendo le semifinali.
Alcuni brani della band sono stati anche impiegati in programmi televisivi: l’inedito “Paulina” e una versione della celebre canzone bluegrass standard “Rollin’ in my sweet baby’s arms” sono state utilizzate da Sky Sport come soundtrack per vari spot.
Oltre ad aver curato la presentazione musicale del film “Alabama Monroe” nei cinema del sud Italia, La Terza Classe ha prodotto un documentario dal titolo “Flat Tyre – An American Music Dream”, che racconta del primo viaggio/tour intrapreso negli USA dai membri della band, alla scoperta delle radici della musica folk americana.
Il documentario, girato da Ugo di Fenza e montato a Napoli da Paolo Ielpo, è vincitore del Napoli Film Festival 2016 per la sezione “Schermo Napoli Doc” e delpremio speciale della giuria al Salento International Film Festival 2017.
Nel 2018, dopo un anno di intenso lavoro in studio, la band esce in autunno con un EP dall’omonimo titolo “La Terza Classe”, contenente 4 brani inediti. Il lavoro è stato pubblicato con l’etichetta Polosud Records. A novembre dello stesso anno la band è impegnata in una tournée di 28 date negli Stati Uniti d’America proprio per la promozione del nuovo lavoro discografico. Nel Marzo 2019 la band partecipa all’importantissimo SXSW festival di Austin, Texas grazie al supporto di Italia Music Export by SIAE riscuotendo un’ottima critica mentre a settembre è l’unica formazione musicale Italiana presente al Contact East Festivalin Canada. Nello stesso anno, nei mesi di Novembre e Dicembre, di  nuovo in tour degli Stati Uniti con all’attivo ben 29 date consecutive. Con l’arrivo della pandemia Covid-19 la band ha proseguito il proprio lavoro in studio lanciando su tutte le piattaforme digitali il disco “Live @ Ex Asilo Filangieri”registrato a Napoli, nel concertone del 1 Febbraio 2020, avendo sul palco e nel disco molti ospiti illustri della scena musicale napoletana. Il 2021 si apre con novità nella formazione ma soprattutto con la nuova collaborazione musicale con il famoso personaggio televisivo Joe Bastianich; la band ed il “restaurant man” iniziano un sodalizio artistico ed un tour in giro per l’Italia che culmina con la pubblicazione nel 2022, da parte di Soundinside Records e Warner Chapel Italia, dell’album “Goodmorning Italia”, disco contenente tutti brani inediti scritti insieme;
l’estate 2022 vede Joe & La Terza Classe impegnati in un lungo tour nazionale di 35 date fra teatri, piazze e Festival fra le quali Pistoia Blues, Rovigo Delta Blues, Summer Jamboree, Piazza Plebiscito a Napoli e tantissime altre. Il brano “Goodmorning Italia” viene scelto come sigla dell’omonimo programma andato in onda su SKY ITALIA.
Il 2023 vede la band impegnata nella registrazione di due lavori discografici: un full Album di inediti da presentare negli Stati Uniti in autunno 2023, e l’ EP “Silverado“, realizzato ancora una volta insieme a Joe Bastianich, con conseguente nuova lunga tournée estiva in tutta Italia per la promozione dello stesso curata sempre da Barley Arts.

Nel mese di Novembre 2023 la band rilascia in esclusiva per il mercato americano “Us”, un nuovo album di inediti, presentato in anteprima con uno showcase tour in USA nello stesso mese, toccando i principali palchi dell’East Coast.

Il disco in uscita con Soundinside Records sarà disponibile nel resto del mondo a partire da Gennaio 2024

La Terza Classe was born in Naples in October 2012; the street were the place where the project formed and had its first achievements, and where the band started to produce music and shows playing traditional and modern American and European folk songs: from Bluegrass to Dixieland, also called Early Jazz, up to Jug Band songs, combining each one of the styles with typical Neapolitan “theatricality”.

In 2014 the band made a first EP, “Ready to Sail”, which sold more than 2000 copies thanks to the intense and constant live performances n several countries. In May 2016 the second studio work came out, “Folkshake”, which included 8 new tracks and one original song; this work  was realized together with “Ad Est dell’Equatore” publishing house, and is distributed on Amazon, Spotify and iTunes.

Over the years La Terza Classe has had the chance to continue studying the roots of the music they play and for this reason the band has performed in many European countries (Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands) and especially in the United States , which they toured in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019;  the band has been featured on many American radio shows (one of them being the famous “Blue Plate Special” , live on WDVX radio in Knoxville) and had the honor of playing for four years in a row at “Music City Roots” in Nashville,TN,  and on the stage of the famous “Bluegrass Underground”.

In 2015 the band participated at the “Bluegrass Contest” in the town of Anderson, S.C., and won second place and had the opportunity to perform on the Main Stage of the “Boograss Bash Festival”, together with internationally recognized artists like Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Rhonda Vincent and Flatt Lonesome. Along with its music activity, La Terza Classe has had the chance to feature in several italian television programs produced by Sky Arte: “On the Road with Joe Bastianich” and “Fotografi”; it has also recently been featured on the 2016 edition of “Italy’s got Talent”.

The original tune “Paulina” and a cover of the famous bluegrass standard “Rollin’ in my sweet baby’s arms” have been used  as a soundtrack for some commercials. La Terza Classe has also produced a documentary “Flat Tyre – An American Music Dream”, which shows the story of the first trip to the USA that led the band to discover the roots of American folk music. The documentary, directed by Ugo di Fenza and edited by Paolo Ielpo, won the 2016 edition of the Napoli Film Festival and the jury’s special mention at the Salento International Film Festival 2017.

On Oct. 2018, the band released the new EP called “La Terza Classe” with 4 original songs, produced by the italian label Polosud Records and is distributed on Amazon, Spotify and iTunes. On Nov. of the same year the band toured the United States, 28 shows all around the East Coast to promote their new record.

On March 2019 the band perform at the incredible SXSW festival in Austin, TX and, at the end of the same year, a new U.S. tour with 29 shows and a showcase at the Contact East Festival in Canada.

After the Covid-19 restrictions a new musical collaboration start with the very famous TV showman Joe Bastianich; togheter they share the common passion for folk/bluegrass/alt-country music and so they decide to release a record with all original songs called “Goodmorning Italia“, published by the italian label Soundinside Records. During the 2022 summer Joe & La Terza Classe have perfomed avout 35 shows around Italy in some of the most important music festivals of the country.

During 2023 the band with Joe Bastianich released a new EP named “Silverado”.

On November 2023 the band released for the north american market a new record named “Us”, a showcase tour in USA took place on the same month

The record is released for the rest of the world on January 2024, with the label Soundinside Records.
